Huan's research interests lie in natural language processing, data mining, and artificial intelligence, with emphasis on natural language interfaces (NLIs) to texts, tables, knowledge graphs, relational databases and computer programs (i.e., question answering, semantic parsing, program synthesis) and making such NLIs interactive and conversational to help users complete tasks through dialogue (i.e., task-oriented dialogue systems, conversational AI). Her goal is to develop advanced models and systems that enable users to easily query big data, write compute programs, collaborate with each other, and acquire knowledge for decision making in various domains such as healthcare, education, and business.
